Weekly Jets Blog – Rich Homie John

It’s not every day you see a team in the thick of the playoff race like the Jets are open as a two touchdown underdog. But that is the situation at hand as the Jets travel to the Big Easy to take on the Saints in the SuperDome. Obviously the Jets look like a long shot here with Bryce Petty making his first start of the season. As a man that watched Bryce Petty play football 4 times last season, I can tell you that he is not good. This concept that he needs to be “evaluated” for future potential is a farce. Here’s your evaluation – bad. The only thing Petty did well last season was throw bombs to Bob Anderson on straight go routes. Petty looked awful last Sunday in his relief appearance, we’ll see if a week of prep with the starting unit changes anything.

It’s usually not difficult to convince myself the Jets will win, but this week has tested my mettle. This game looks bleak. Having said that, there’s simply no way the Jets lose this game. Forget all that stuff I said about Petty – he was born for this moment. I am not a religious man but god put Petty on this earth to play quarterback and he’s going to make god look good on Sunday. Todd Bowles sent a message this week by essentially cutting the team’s highest paid player, Mo Wilkerson. The defense will respond to that and could possibly pitch a shutout. The Saints want to get Kamara and Ingram in space – the Jets are uniquely designed to stop this attack with first round busts Darron Lee and Jamal Adams flying around making tackles. Jets OC John Morton will want to make a statement in his return to New Orleans and I expect Bob Anderson to pick on the overrated Marshon Lattimore all day. Tempting to take the Jets money line here at +876, but if you’re too much of a coward for that, be sure take the +15 points and the easy winner and tune in to the GB/CAR game instead.
