Thanksgiving is undoubtedly my favorite day of the year. It is a day where you can eat, drink and sit on the coach and watch sports all day and it’s socially accepted. Thanksgiving looks different this year as many are forgoing large family gatherings and instead staying home. The only way to try and keep some normalcy today is to gamble on some football and eat yourself into a food coma. So let’s pick some winners that we can all get behind and win ourselves some money for Christmas gifts.
HOU @ DET (O/U 50.5)
I was a little shocked when I saw the total only sitting at 50.5. Both these teams have horrible defenses. Granted both offenses are also horrible but at least they have quarterbacks who can put some points on the board. The Lions are coming off a goose egg against Carolina and will again be without Swift and Golladay. Luckily for them they are getting just what the doctor ordered in a Houston defense that is very bad. They are bad at all three levels of the defense which is something you don’t always see. On the other side you have Houston who is coming off a nice win against New England. Where Desean Watson gave Texans fans something to feel good about in a lost season. If PJ Walker was able to shred this Lions secondary I fully expect Watson to be able to do the same. One prop bet I like is Watson Over 300.5 yards passing, he accounted for 380 yards last week and there is no reason he won’t do the same today. Along with that I like the over in this game. Patricia is coaching with his back against the wall so he will pull out all the stops to win and the Texans have enough on offense to put up a lot of points here.
Pick: Over 50.5
WFT @ DAL
The second game we have is a matchup between 3-7 division rivals battling for first place in the NFC East. The NFC East has been a joke all season and the winner will likely have a losing record. For a while I thought the Eagles were clear favorites but I didn’t take into account Carson Wentz forgetting how to play the game of football. Now I am leaning toward the Giants winning this division but one bad Daniel Jones game and I will lose that faith. It very well may be the winner of this game who wins the division and gets to host a home playoff game. It’s tough not to like the Cowboys at -3 (+100) especially after their win last week. The only thing giving me pause is just how bad their defense is. The Seahawks get a lot of shit for having a horrible defense and rightfully so their defense was historically bad and on pace to give up the most yards per game in NFL history but I still think the Cowboys has been worse. But still I think the Cowboys have more talent on their roster and find a way to win and cover here and take control of the NFC East. When I close my eyes I just can’t see the Washington Football team winning this game and for that reason I’m taking Dallas. A prop I like here is CeeDee Lamb to have more receiving yards than Terry McLaurin at +160 odds. Also I’m gonna take Antonio Gibson as first TD scorer with +700 odds. Just some added action to get the blood pumping on Thanksgving!
Pick: DAL -3
