Today I am the biggest Mike Glennon fan on the face of the earth. I need Mike Glennon to have a career day and pull out a win. I also need the Jets to lose by 40 after seeing reports that Gase will be fired if they lose today. I’m not sure why the outcome today matters when determining when to fire Gase but seeing that if they lose today he’s gone immediately brightened my day. Now we went 1-2 yesterday but that can mainly be attributed to Tua sucking ass. How many times can one guy be benched in a season before they just stick with Fitzmagic? If Flores goal was to ruin his top 10 quarterback in his rookie season then he very well might succeed. Despite Tua stinking the Dolphins are still on the verge of the playoffs. They went out and spent the most of any team in free agency and it’s paying off. It’s a strategy the Jets have tried multiple times in the past but without a good head coach you end up with a high payroll and meaningless games at the end of December. Anyway enough complaining, let’s pick some winners.
LAR @ SEA (-1.5)
I know it’s tough to speak highly of the Rams after they just got worked by the Jets but I still do believe they are a good team. And even with the loss to the Jets, with a win today they can still win their division. Last time these teams met Jalen Ramsey shut down DK Metcalf. I expect him to have a similar performance today. If Goff can avoid the turnovers I think the Rams cover easy here.
Pick: LAR -1.5
DEN @ LAC (-2.5)
Justin Herbert is everything The Broncos thought Drew lock would be. If I’m being honest he is everything I thought Sam Darnold would be. The chargers are likely to fire Anthony Lynn at the end of the season. The Chargers job will be one of the more desirable ones coming into this off-season. They have a franchise quarterback, young weapons on defense and a lot of other complementary pieces that could lead to a quick turnaround. Normally teams playing for lame duck coaches roll over and die but the Chargers came out and got a win last week. I think they do the same this week against a bad Broncos team and cover the 2 1/2 pointspread.
Pick: LAC -2.5
CHI @ JAX (O/U 46.5)
As I said at the beginning I am the biggest Mike Glennon fan in the world today. The Jets need the Jaguars to win one of the next two games and the Jets to lose both of theirs in order for the Jets to secure the number one pick. In all likelihood the Jaguars will lose both of their games securing the number one pick and the right to draft Trevor Lawrence. In any other season the Jets going one and 15 would’ve been more than enough to secure the first overall pick. But in the season where the Jets finished with their worst record record since the Rich Kotite era there is another team who will also finish with a one and 15 record. The Bears, surprisingly are still in the playoffs hunt with a win here today they would move into the seventh wild-card spot in the NFC. Since Mitch‘s return he has been playing like a starting caliber quarterback which is more than can be said for his previous time as the starter. The defense has also been playing well and with Mike Glenn starting on the opposite side and James Robinson out I like the under in this game.
Pick: under 46.5
NYG @ BAL (O/U 44.5)
With the dolphins win yesterday the ravens need a win here today to keep pace in the AFC wildcard race. I do expect them to beat the Giants in this game but I think there is a better bet. And that bet is under 44 1/2. The Giants have had a good defense all year and have been especially stout against the run. The ravens have also had one of the top defenses in the league and will be able to absolutely stop the Giants in their tracks. Since Daniel Jones went out with a hamstring injury the Giants have sputtered offensively. Daniel Jones will be back in this game but will still be working with an injured hamstring and an injured ankle. Daniel Jones not at 100% is not a Daniel Jones that you want starting an NFL football game. Because of all this I think under 44 1/2 is the best bet.
Pick: under 44 1/2
CINN @ HOU (-7.5)
The Bengals stink and Desean Watson will light them up.
Pick: HOU -7.5
