Week 8 Picks

Week eight of NFL is upon us and we have yet another shitty slate of games. You know it’s a bad slate of games when there are four double digit spreads. One of those obviously being the Jets as 10 1/2 point dogs to the Bengals at home. My only hope for the Jets Bengals game is that Robert Salah suddenly becomes Rex Ryan and they run the ground and pound offense and have a stifling defense. Now nothing about the first seven weeks of NFL action really gives me any hope that they will be able to do this. But the irrational fan of me thinks that this is the week. All I’m saying is I can see a world where Mike White manages the game well and Michael Carter goes for 150 and the Jets pull out a 17 to 14 win. Is the more likely outcome that they get another 50 burger put up on them? Yes, yes it is but I will continue to be an irrational fan. Enough Jets talk, let’s pick some winners.

TENN @ IND (-3)

I am not really sure why the Colts are three point favorites in this game. The Titans have looked good all year minus the loss against the Jets. And the Colts have been extremely up and down. Granted the Titans will be without Julio Jones. But he has been injured basically the entire season. I don’t know if he has been fully healthy since training camp. The Titans are going to continue to feed Derrick Henry. Get a few big players from AJ Brown, and hope the defense does enough to make a few stops. Titans +3 is an easy bet for me here.

Pick: TENN +3

CAR @ ATL (-3)

I think Sam Darnolds honey moon in Carolina might be coming to an end. He is showing Panthers fans exactly why the Jets were ready to move on. He is turnover prone, inaccurate, and not able to process information quickly. Basically everything you don’t want in a quarterback. Robbie Anderson this year is also remembering why he decided to get out of New York. Yes the Panthers payed him more than the Jets offered. But I’m sure he was also happy to get away from Sam Darnold. Now that they are back together Robbie is having one of the worst years of his career and Donald seems unable to get him the ball in opportune positions. The Falcons on the other hand are on a little bit of a run. Winners of three of their last four and the only game they lost was when they let Taylor Heinicke beat them in the fourth quarter. I think the Falcons continue to play well today and cover the three point spread.

Big Dog Teaser

Now the big dog Teaser did not do great last week. A big part of that was the fact the Jets lost by 41. If I had to guess the Jets will probably be a part of the big dog Teaser for the rest of the season. Not because they’re going to be a good bet but because they will always be seven point dogs or more. Along with the Jets we have another team from last week joining the big dog Teaser In the Houston Texans. Along with the Texans and Jets we have the dolphins and the Giants. All double-digit dogs moving to over two touchdown dogs. All we need is for all four of those teams to keep it within two touchdowns and we hit at +357.

DAL @ MINN (-2.5)

Now I think this line is sitting at Cowboys +2 1/2 due to the fact that no one is sure if Dak is going to play. I am riding the Cowboys here with the expectation that Dak is going to play. The Cowboys have been the best team this season against the spread. And coming off a bye I think they continue that dominance. Give me Cowboys +2 1/2.

Pick: DAL +2.5
