Week 7 Thursday Night Football

Jets bye week means the blog takes a bye as well. The Jets bye couldn’t have come at a better time, for the blog and the Jets. For the blog we needed the reset to get back to our winning ways(.500 last year). With the Jets off it allowed me to focus on the rest of the league and in doing so I gained the necessary knowledge to properly handicap moving forward. The Jets needed the bye so they could spend the week focusing on why their offense has been so putrid. For as bad as a coach as Adam Gase was he was basically automatic on scoring on opening drives. Matt LeFlaur needs to do a better job on the first 15 scripted plays because right now they are dog shit. If they don’t spot Atlanta a double digit lead last week they win that game, and Jets fans are feeling a lot better heading into week 7. Instead they let Atlanta get out to a lead and couldn’t come back. They ere on the brink of the comeback but their defense couldn’t get a timely stop at the end of the game. It was very similar to the Carolina game which made it that much more of a kick in the dick.

Tonight’s Thursday Night Football we have two teams desperate for a win. The Browns come in losers of two straight and have been decimated by injury. The Browns are without their two staring running backs, their starting right tackle, and will be without their starting quarterback. In Mayfield’s place the Browns are starting Case Keenum, who did enjoy his best season with Stefanski as his quarterback coach, when Keenum went 11-3 as the starter. On the other side of the coin you have the Broncos coming in losers of 3 straight. Not only have they lost 3 straight they are 0-3 ATS in those games. Teddy Bridgewater has looked very bad, turning the ball over an uncharacteristic amount, and their defense has looked as soft as tissue paper.

Now taking all that into account I am having trouble talking myself into any side or any total. Am I really gonna bet on Case Keenum at -2? Am I really gonna allow myself to keep getting burned by the Broncos? Do I actually think these teams can score more than 40 points? The answer to those questions is no, yes and no. But to be safe I am going to tease the Broncos and the Under. Taking the Broncos to +8, and the total to 46.5. It’s hard not to love that bet.

Now if I can be real with everyone, I think I might be addicted to teasers. I just love them so much, I want to put together an entire NFL Sunday slate teaser just for the hell of it. I go to sleep thinking of what am I gonna tease the next day and wake up thinking the same. Now that I am talking it through with everyone I am not addicted to teasers I am just in love with them.

Pick: DEN +8, Under 46.5
